We are building a skylight! or maybe just uncovering one.

We will get back to the other projects we started writing about and give you updates.  We just get excited and start new things!
When we moved into our little house it had two skylights.  One was in the bathroom and the other was in the attic above our bedroom.  There was a little window in the ceiling, but it was covered in a burbly piece of plexi-glass and oozy, aging, yellowish caulk all around the edges.  We figured we would take out the plexi and frame in and drywall the shaft.

So we smashed the plexi glass... it was the only way, and pried loose the caulk.   Once we had it opened up we realized that the sky light and window in the ceiling didn't really line up and there were some rafters and generally a lot of stuff in the way of our shaft construction.
We figured maybe all that stuff was kind of nice and it would be a good challenge to try and cut out drywall to go around all of the angles and beams.

It was warm right up next to the skylight.

We took turns up there.
That's how lovers do it.

Started work on a mini ramp for the garage... is this possible?

We have a little one car garage with a dirt floor and a new roof we put on last fall.  It seems like you could build a super mini skate ramp that could fit inside and be a little personal indoor skate park for wintry times when the days are short and the concrete is wet outside.  Anyway, threw some plywood on the roof rack and started building out one of the transitions.  There is still too much junk in the garage to build much more yet.  We've got to find a new home for the old futon mattress, maybe the landfill.

We are building new doors for our kitchen cabinets

We went to urban ore to sell some old doors and we found this great pile of redwood siding that had a little bit of greenish stuff on it that was maybe moss... or paint?  So we decided to throw away our old cabinet and drawer doors and build some new ones.
Stacey is really good at cutting stuff.
Max made a jig to try to cut the pieces straight... and maybe some of them were.
We painted them with polyacrilic - shiny town stuff... but are they too country?
